Walkers raised approximately $116,860 in the 43rd annual Opportunity Village Benefit Walk on May 6.
Several hundred walkers participated in Fort Dodge and Clear Lake, despite uncertain weather.
The total Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Eagle Grove and Webster City area walkers raised was approximately $11,226. This was the second year this area has had a walk location.
Myrna Marso, who works for Opportunity Village in Humboldt, was the top area fund raiser with $2,554. Marso and co-workers, Alisha Steburg and her husband Barry, Maria Olson, Heather Kimbrough, and Susan Robinson made up the Humboldt Bunch, the staff team that raised the most money, $4,208.
All proceeds from each year's Benefit Walk go to support Village services for people with disabilities in north Iowa. The Village serves more than 600 individuals, providing training and support to help them live as independently as possible. The Walk is held every year on the first Sunday in May.
