To the editor:
On behalf of the Duncombe Boosters, staff and families we are excited to thank our community for a successful 2012 Fun Night celebrating our 100th birthday. Through donations from many local businesses and friends of Duncombe our March 31 Fun Night event raised $7,000 that will go towards supporting our teachers and enriching the educational opportunities for students at Duncombe Elementary.
Special thanks go to Roger Natte of the Historical Society who spent time researching and sharing our history with us to prepare for the great article The Messenger printed. Also thanks to Culver's for joining us in giving a part of their day's proceeds back to us making Fun Night even more fun. A big shout out to Kohl's, which through its community program sent seven employees to volunteer and also committed a $500 donation. What fun to share the duties of the Duck Pond and Cake Walk with them.
We are proud to be a part of Duncombe and its deep rooted traditions in education making learning fun for 100 years.
The celebration continues through 2012. Contact the school if you'd like a 100-year T-shirt or hoodie. We also have several prints of the building that make for a great alumni gift. Like our Duncombe Elementary School page on Facebook and keep sharing those memories. Better yet join us next year at our Booster Club meetings the first Tuesday of every month. Watch for more community and alumni events this year and mark your calendars for Fun Night April 6, 2013.
