Willoughby — 90 years old

ROCKWELL CITY — Norma Willoughby, of Rockwell City, will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Sunnyview Retirement Center, Rockwell City.

Her family includes James F. and Barbara Willoughby, of Knoxville, and Margaret Ann Bloomquist, of Dayton. She has four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Gerald, passed away in 2008 and son-in-law, Marlan, in 1996.
Norma Filby was born May 13, 1922, in Richmond, Surrey, England. She met her husband, Gerald F. Willoughby, Rockwell City, during World War II in England and were married April 7, 1945, in Kew, Surrey, England. She served in the British Royal Air Force from 1942 to 1945. The family moved back to Iowa in 1964. In 1968, she began working as an accountant for Hinton Ford and then Carver Motors, Rockwell City. They retired to Daytona Beach, Fla., in 2007. She moved to Sunnyview Retirement Center, Rockwell City, in 2008.
