The Iowa Central baseball team took both ends of an ICCAC doubleheader from Iowa Lakes on Saturday at Ed Barbour Field.
After recording a convincing 12-2 six-inning victory in game one, the Tritons (32-17 overall, 8-10 in the league) pulled out a 5-4 nine-inning triumph in the second contest.
Dalton Parrott went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the opener for Iowa Central, while teammate Jake Threlkeld contributed a double and also drove in three. The Tritons erupted for six of their scores in the second frame and three more in the third.
Going the distance in the win was Andrew Redman (6-3), who scattered four hits and four strikeouts.
"We played really well in the first game and got 10 hits by nine different guys," said ICCC head coach Rick Pederson. " Redman was his usual self, and we were able to score runs in bunches."
In the nightcap, Parrott, Scott Splett, Dan Potempa, Spencer Mallonee and Zak Leighton all produced a pair of hits for Iowa Central, which actually trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh before rallying for the game's final two runs.
Cory Ferm (3-1) earned the victory in relief, allowing just one hits - with six strikeouts - over 4 1/3 innings.
"We dug ourselves a 3-0 hole in the top of the first in game two, but we were able to battle back with a couple of key hits in the seventh when our backs were against the wall," Pederson said. "Ferm was also excellent on the mound."
The Tritons and Lakers (21-21, 2-16) will square off again here today. First pitch is set for noon.
