VIVALORE D. CLAUSSEN

ROLFE - Vivalore D. Claussen - age 94, of Rolfe, passed away on April 26, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, April 30, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe with Rev. Jerry Schultz officiating.

Visitation will be 4-7 PM, Sunday, April 29, at Powers Funeral Home in Rolfe.

Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery near Palmer.

Powers Funeral Home in Rolfe is in charge of arrangements.

Vivalore Dorelda Henrietta Onken Claussen was born April 14, 1918. She was the daughter of Henry and Dorothea Steckelberg Onken. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manson and received her education in the Manson area. She did housework for neighbors and worked at Frank Schoon's Grocery Store in Palmer before she married Herman Claussen on December 11, 1939.The couple farmed at various areas in Pocahontas County. She worked as a nurse assistant at the Good Samaritan Home in Manson and at the Rolfe Care Center. After retiring they spent nine years during the winter months in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Vivalore was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe and was a Gold Star Mother. She enjoyed quilting, bowling and became a very good golfer. Her family and friends were very important to her and she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother , great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters: Yvonne Paulson, Duncombe and Janet (Chuck) Wink, Prairie City; Granddaughters: Jill (Doug) Liebe, Julie (David) Liebe, Brenda (George) Pruett, Kimberly (Jeramie) Faber; ten great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Survivors also include three Step-grandchildren: Ivy (J.C.) Carnelley, Jackie (Frank) Godburn, John S. (Johnna) Paulson, twelve Step-grandchildren, seven Step-great grandchildren, and her brother-in-law, Bob Getsfred.

Vivalore was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman, sons, Henry and Corliss, son-in-law John Paulson, daughter-in-law Darlene Menke, and sister Violette Getsfred.
