The St. Edmond boys basketball team knocked off Clarinda 56-44 to advance to Friday's Class 2A state championship.
The Gaels (20-6) needed overtime after Clarinda tied the contest at 42-42 with a running lay up as time expired.
St. Edmond will now play Mount Vernon (22-4) at 8 p.m. inside Wells Fargo Arena.
This is the fifth state finals appearance for the Gaels. St. Edmond won the title in 2000. They finished second in 2004, 06 and 08.
