The 1970s haven't returned, but Saturday those nostalgic for that decade are in luck. The 15th annual Sweetheart Gala, a fundraising event for the Webster County Division of the American Heart Association, will feature a disco theme.
The event will be held at the Fort Dodge Country Club. A social hour with a live auction will commence at 6 p.m. with dinner and dancing to follow. The chance for a festive evening should have wide appeal. That's an excellent reason to attend, but the gala has a very serious purpose - furthering the fight against cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among Iowans. Funds raised help support important education and research.
The Sweetheart Gala has been a priority cause for Deb and Casey Johnson, who have led the project since its inception. It's been an exceptionally successful undertaking and keeps breaking fundraising records year after year.
If you haven't already made plans to attend the gala, it's not too late to purchase tickets. Call Holly Narber at 573-2810 or Fort Dodge Ford Toyota at 576-7505 and leave a message regarding the number of tickets needed. They can be picked up at the door. If you can't be present at the event, financial donations are always welcome.
This worthy undertaking deserves strong community support.
