Grace Lutheran Church, 211 S. Ninth St., begins the Lenten season on Wednesday with Ash Wednesday worship at 7 p.m. The service begins with confession and imposition of ashes, and includes Holy Communion. This service also launches the Lenten theme "The Sign of Jonah- The God of the Second Chance."
Following Ash Wednesday, the midweek Lenten services will begin with a light supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by the service at at 6:30 p.m. Services include a drama directed by Joan Meyer, music directed by Bruce Perry and a message by the Rev. Matthew Martens on the Lenten theme, illustrating why Jesus used Jonah as a sign of new life in Christ.
All are invited to join in the meal and worship time. Seventh- and eighth-grade Confirmation students serve as ushers, greeters and service assistants at these services.
