Pocahontas County Conservation hosted the January afterschool program offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. The children got to view the Tallgrass Prairie — Past, Present & Future display that was at the conservation nature center through January. They learned how the prairie has changed from when the buffalo roamed freely through Iowa to present day having the richest soil in the world. Pictured are Heather Hull and Michelle Ehlers, 4-H master food volunteers, who were special guests who presented healthy snack options to the children and then they made their own trail mix.
