The names of the two drivers killed in a Friday evening crash on U.S. Highway 169 near Bode have been released by the Iowa State Patrol.
According to the report, those killed were Jimmie Dean Faltinson, 75, of Rutland, who was driving a 1990 Oldsmobile Delta 88, southbound and Katherine Leona Jo Kofoot, 20, of Bode, driving a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier.
The three-car accident also involved a Webster County Sheriff's Department 2005 Ford Crown Victoria being used to transport two inmates to the Kossuth County Jail.
According to Webster County Sheriff Brian Mickelson, the driver, jailer Paul Keller, of Manson, was not injured nor were the two inmates.
According to initial reports, Keller had swerved in an attempt to avoid the crash, but struck one of the other vehicles.
The two fatalities were in the vehicles that hit head on.
Humboldt County had received a report of vehicle - identified as the car driven by Faltinson in the State Patrol report - southbound in the northbound lane near St. Joseph.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
