Jefferson MD gets medical probation

JEFFERSON - Dr. Thomas W. Fagg, 52, an Iowa-licensed physician who practiced family medicine in Jefferson, has been placed on probation for three years by the Iowa Board of Medicine.

Fagg is subject to board monitoring, including a supervised education program, has been publicly reprimanded and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine.

Fagg entered into a settlement agreement with the board Jan. 13, and the board released details of the agreement Thursday.

On April 8, 2011, the board charged Fagg for failing to respond to emergency pages in a timely manner, failing to dictate hospital notes in a timely manner and failing to provide appropriate treatment to a 16-year-old patient in the emergency room in 2006.

On May 7, 2010, Fagg completed a comprehensive clinical competency evaluation, and the evaluation program recommended he participate in a supervised education program.
