Looking for a fun and healthy way to welcome in the New Year? Start off the 2012 winter outdoor recreation season with a First Day Hike at Dolliver State Park. This free event will be held on Jan. 1. First Day hikers can expect to be surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature in winter, with views unimpeded by foliage. Wildlife and animal tracks might be spied during the hike.
This guided hike will start at the south lodge at Dolliver State Park at 1 pm and last about 45 minutes. Children welcome over the age of 4 unless carried by an adult. Dress warmly. Wear layers of clothing and sturdy, warm hiking boots or shoes, as well as hats and gloves. Binoculars and a camera always come in handy, and remember to bring water. Difficulty of the hike will depend on the amount of snow on the ground. For inclement weather please call 359-2539 for the status of the hike.
This hike offers individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenated and connected with the outdoors. First Day Hikes offer a great way to get outside, exercise, enjoy nature, visit a state park, and welcome the New Year with friends and family. This hike is part of the America's State Parks First Day Hike Program.
