The sale of some property on Fifth Avenue South and the hiring of a company to work on the Fort Dodge Municipal Building are on Monday's agenda for the City Council.
The council meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.
First on the agenda is a workshop discussion of the East Region Storm Sewer Project. That project is a major initiative to reduce street flooding in the area around Crossroads Mall. Some work on it is expected to start next spring.
The regular business meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
During that session the elected officials will consider selling the sites of a former paint store and the old animal shelter to the firm that owns the nearby La'James International College property. The plan calls for selling 2415 1/2 Fifth Ave. S. and 2417 Fifth Ave. S. to Bechert LLC for $1,000.
Council members will also consider hiring a company to do some work on the Municipal Building, which was erected in 1914. The proposed contract would include replacing the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system; replacing the boiler and installing a new electrical service connection.
Also on the agenda is a proposal to expand the downtown urban renewal area so that tax increment financing could be used to buy properties there.
Following the regular business meeting, there will be a workshop discussion about plans to add a fire marshal's position to the Fire Department. If the position is created, that individual will be in charge of fire safety inspections.
