MAXWELL - Seeking a second consecutive CMB Duals title, the St. Edmond wrestling team returns to the mat here today.
Rounding out the rest of the five-team field are Southeast Webster-Grand, Carlisle, South Hardin/BCLUW and host CMB-Baxter.
Action begins at 9 a.m.
"Last year, CMB and Carlisle were both pretty tough, and I'm expecting them to be solid once again," SEHS head coach Jim Allison said. "We're just hoping to be able to go down (to Maxwell) and wrestle like we're capable of and bring home another trophy."
In their previous outing on Thursday, the Gaels (2-1 overall) split a road triangular with Iowa Falls-Alden and Webster City. SEHS posted a 51-18 victory over the Cadets and dropped a 42-21 decision to the Lynx.
"I was pretty happy with our performance (Thursday)," said Allison.
"We're still learning and trying to correct a few things, but we seem to be getting a little better every time out."
Seventh-ranked (Class 1A) junior Teddie Harvey (145), No. 7 sophomore Vinnie Harvey (182) and ninth-ranked senior Ryan Rodenborn (220) anchor the St. Edmond lineup.
Brothers Teddie and Vinnie each own 5-1 records on the year, while Rodenborn has compiled a perfect 6-0 mark so far this season.
"To be successful, we need to stay aggressive and wrestle with the same type of intensity that we have been," Allison said. "We just have to go all out for a full six minutes."
The Gaels will again be without the services of fifth-ranked 106-pound sophomore Kaden McClintock (hip flexor) and 195-pound junior Michael Johnson (knee injury).
A year ago, SEHS prevailed in all five of its duals here.
Then-sophomore Colten Lastine, Teddie, Vinnie and Rodenborn all went unbeaten for the green and white.
