Fireman’s Ball will raise funds

November 20, 2011
By KATHLEEN KOCH, Messenger staff writer , Messenger News

Dancing the night away Wednesday can help high school students get scholarships and teach children about fire safety.

Proceeds from the annual Fort Dodge Fire Department's Fireman's Ball will do that and more, said firefighter Kenny Moen.

"The Fort Dodge Fire Department has been holding the Annual Fireman's Ball for several years," Moen said. "This event helps raise money and proceeds for scholarships at local high schools, sponsoring little league teams, tools to educating children about fire safety and for everday living expenses for the firehouse. This event is a lot of fun for all and we appreciate all the support for the Fort Dodge Fire Department."

The ball will kick off at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eagles Ballroom, 1028 First Ave. N., with music provided by the Des Moines-based band Standing Hampton.

"They are a great classic rock band," Moen said. "They perform the best a good range of music of the '70's, '80's and beyond."

Tickets have been distributed through local businesses. Those without tickets will be admitted at the door for a freewill donation.
