An annual Christmas tradition is returning to Fort Dodge starting this Tuesday.
Operation Christmas, which prepares boxes full of supplies for families in need, will be held at Crossroads Mall, in the space where Hancock Fabrics used to be.
Donations will be accepted starting Tuesday. Items that will be accepted include clean and warm clothing for adults and children, new and gently used toys and games, canned and packaged foods, sheets, blankets, towels, artificial Christmas trees and decorations, as well as kitchen supplies and small appliances.
The final day for clothing donations will be Dec. 7. Boxes will be distributed on Dec. 16.
Hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Money donations will also be accepted, and can be mailed to Operation Christmas, P.O. Box 278, Fort Dodge, IA 50501, or donated in person to the mall site.
Applications for Operation Christmas will be accepted from Nov. 28 until either Dec. 9 or when 425 families are found. Operation Christmas is sponsored by the Church Women United.
