MANSON - Ricki Osborn, Webster County attorney, will be the guest speaker at the National Honor Society induction ceremony at Manson Northwest Webster.
Mark Lynch, NHS adviser, said Osborn affirms all of the values of the National Honor Society.
"She seemed like she would be a good model to talk to our students about leadership, character, scholarship, service," he said.
Those are the four tenets of the NHS.
High school juniors and seniors apply for inclusion in the national organization and are accepted through faculty vote. At Manson Northwest Webster, 12 students will be inducted this year.
Lynch said Osborn would be an inspirational figure for students interested in law.
"Some kids are looking into law enforcement or the legal field," he said. "They can just informally talk to her about schooling and stuff like that, educational background."
"We have four of the current members give talks on service, leadership, character and scholarship. Our guest speakers talk and then we induct them and have a little cake and cookies. And just mingle and talk a little bit."
Lynch said the evening is fun.
"We try to make it formal dress, but informal atmosphere," he said.
The NHS induction ceremony for new members will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Kate Toben Auditorium.
