Two face marijuana charges

Two Fort Dodge residents are facing multiple charges after police found marijuana in one of their homes.

Carl R. Kifer, 28, of 1419 S. 15th St., and Jessica A. Duckett, 25, of 627 Second St. N.W., are both charged with manufacturing marijuana, as well as five counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp to marijuana. Both charges are Class D felonies.

On June 30, police responded to Kifer's home where, according to court documents, they found 50 to 100 mature marijuana plants growing in his basement. In addition, documents stated that more than five of the plants didn't have a drug stamp on them.

Both appeared in Webster County Magistrate Court Friday. Judge Steve Kersten set bond for both at $5,000 per charge.

Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 8.
