On April 6-10 the Iowa Central Triton Dancers traveled to Daytona Beach, Fla., to compete for the second year in a row at the National Dance Alliance Collegiate Cheer and Dance National Championships. The dance team’s score earned them an immediate a spot in the final round of competition on the famous Daytona Beach Bandshell stage. The dance team finished sixth in the division, two places higher than last year’s results.
Individual award winners are pictured from left: Kaitlin Franken, Early; Alyssa Johnson, Eagle Grove; Sarah Pagel, Webster City; and Kristin Elm, Webster City.
Franken was chosen to be a member of the NDA summer camps staff.
Johnson and Pagel were chosen as members of the University of Northern Iowa Dance Team.
Elm was named the first ever recipient of the Katie Lunn “Keep the Smile Alive” memorial scholarship presented at the end of the year dance concert Curtain Call in March. She will use the scholarship to pursue dance at Iowa State University in the fall.
