The Air Force Association has recognized Amanda Reiter as the Air Force Association's Fort Dodge Chapter Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011.

This award was given to Reiter for demonstrated excellence in the classroom in education, in the spirit of Christa McAuliffe, and in recognition of sustained, outstanding performance as an educator and dedication to ensuring that America's students are prepared for aerospace technological challenges of the future. The award was presented to Reiter on May 25 at Fair Oaks Middle School.

Reiter, a sixth- and seventh-grade math teacher from Fair Oaks, was selected for the Air Force Association Fort Dodge Chapter Teacher of the Year because of her hands-on teaching approach along with her involvement in promoting aerospace education in her classes.

There are 68 other AFA Chapter Teacher of the Year Award Winners throughout the United States this year. Reiter received a certificate from the Air Force Association, tote bag, military AFA challenge coin, $250 check, and a one-year paid membership to the Fort Dodge Chapter Air Force Association. Reiter was also nominated by the Fort Dodge Chapter of the Air Force Association for the State AFA Teacher of the Year.
