Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City recently hosted its annual Community Hog Roast to celebrate National Nursing Home Week. There was no cost for the complete pork dinner which attracted nearly 400 people. In an effort to help local families in need, optional, tax-deductible donations were collected for Upper Des Moines Opportunity. The total collected at the event was $700. Southfield Wellness Community is owned and operated by ABCM Corporation in Hampton. The corporation added an additional $500 to make the grand total donated to UDMO to be $1,200. According to UDMO Director Nicole Jones, the donation will provide for 12 truck loads of food brought to the UDMO Food Pantry from a special grocery warehouse in Des Moines. Southfield is proud to participate in community betterment projects that assist families in the area.
Pictured at the UDMO Food Pantry are Southfield Administrator Rob Richardson; Marilyn Middleton, marketing coordinator passing the check; and UDMO Outreach Coordinator Alisa Schlief.
