Algona Middle School students earned their fifth championship of the season at Armstrong-Ringsted’s quiz bowl tournament. In the preliminary games, AMS earned 1,470 points to their opponents’ 735, defeating teams from North Sentral Kossuth, Saint Edmond, Emmetsburg, Seton and Armstrong-Ringsted to be seeded first from the field of 22. The AMS team finished the day with a 9-0 record, bringing home the gold. The coach for Algona Middle School’s quiz bowl team is Twila Wichtendahl.
