Due to the 2010 Census, Webster County will begin to redraw its precinct and district boundaries this year.
The Webster County Board of Supervisors took the first step in the process by appointing a temporary county redistricting commission Tuesday.
The board unanimously without discussion appointed Dan Garst, Bob Stark, Peg Royster, Mel Schroeder and Diane Engquist to the commission.
Within the next few months the commission will convene and discuss how to redraw the current areas each supervisor represents in the county.
The commission must complete the map by Oct. 15.
The new map will be used for the 2012 election. Polling locations could be affected.
In other business, the board approved an increase of $1,920 for additional piping to vent the floor drain in the boiler room, which is part of the Law Enforcement Center project.
It also approved a $10,564 proposal from Johnson Controls to install a split air-conditioning system for a server room in the Bank of America Building. The Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County sheriff's office and Webster County attorney's office are all located in the building as the LEC undergoes repairs.
The county attorney's office is the only department that will remain in the building when the LEC repairs are finished.
The board also unanimously approved:
