WEBSTER CITY - First Congregational United Church of Christ will host a multi-week book study of "The Heart of the Soul: Emotional Awareness" by Gary Zukav and Linda Francis beginning 6 to 6:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Participants can expect to:

Understand emotions as products of the way humans channel and release spiritual energy into the world.

Learn to read the messages that emotions reveal about a person's inner life.

Create a greater awareness of how emotions affect physical and psychological health.

Examine behaviors that misuse emotional energy, such as anger, workaholism, perfectionism, pleasing, boredom, idol worship, impenetrable optimism, entitlement, alcohol and drugs, eating, sexual addiction, power struggles, savior searching and judging.

Grow in understanding and awareness of their own emotional landscape so they are empowered to make positive changes in their lives.

The program is open to the public, and there is no cost for participating other than the purchase of the book, which is available through Amazon.com. There is also an opportunity to enjoy a light meal before the study through the Meals N More program offered by the church. The meal begins at 5 p.m. The cost is $2.

Information about the Heart of the Soul book study is available at the office of First Congregational United Church of Christ at 832-2232 or by email at revcraigblaufuss@wmtel.net. People must register to attend.
