Coppin AME to celebrate annual Founder’s Day

Dinner, program set for March 19

Coppin AME will celebrate annual Founder's Day at 6 p.m. March 19 at the Hanson Center at Iowa Central Community College. The celebration combines dinner and a program. For ticket information call 573-7588, 955-3014 or 480-6381.

Coppin Chapel African Methodist Episcopal will celebrate the founding of the African Methodist Episcopal Church which was started in Philadelphia in 1787, by Richard Allen.

The speaker for the occasion will be Melvin Tennant, chief executive officer of the Convention and Visitors Association of Minneapolis, Minn. Prior to locating to Minneapolis, he served in a similar capacity in San Antonio, Texas, Charlotte, N.C., and Oakland, Calif. Tennant is a native of Oklahoma and received his bachelor of arts degree in management from Rice University, Houston, Texas, and is pursuing a master's degree in Christian leadership studies from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va. Tennant will incorporate the theme built on Joshua 22:5 and Jeremiah 29:11.
