Coppin Chapel African Methodist Episcopal will celebrate the founding of the African Methodist Episcopal Church which was started in Philadelphia in 1787, by Richard Allen.
The speaker for the occasion will be Melvin Tennant, chief executive officer of the Convention and Visitors Association of Minneapolis, Minn. Prior to locating to Minneapolis, he served in a similar capacity in San Antonio, Texas, Charlotte, N.C., and Oakland, Calif. Tennant is a native of Oklahoma and received his bachelor of arts degree in management from Rice University, Houston, Texas, and is pursuing a master's degree in Christian leadership studies from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va. Tennant will incorporate the theme built on Joshua 22:5 and Jeremiah 29:11.
