GOWRIE John E. Kennell, age 65, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Gowrie Care Center, Gowrie. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Gowrie Township Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie. Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Pam of Gowrie; son, Jevon Kennell and his wife, Julia of Howell, MI; daughter, Lucretia Brown and her husband, Robert of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Stacie Nordin and her husband, Matt of Gowrie; son, Johnnie Kennell and his friend, Ami of Clive; daughter, Angie Kennell of Gowrie, daughter Jenny Carlson of Gowrie; and daughter, Kim Kennell and her friend, Mitch of Ft. Dodge; 10 grandchildren, Jhay-Lah, Jaden, Jayna, Andrew, Justin, Erica, Collin, Alexa, Jaxon, and Graycee. Sister, LuAnn Gerber of Goshen, IN; brothers, Kenneth Kennell and his wife, Emily of Benson, IL; Leonard Kennell and his wife, Velda of Benson, IL; Harold Kennell and his wife, Shirley of Shelbyville, IL; Carl "Pete" Kennell and his wife, Kathy of Washburn, IL; Ralph Kennell and his wife, Julia of Waukarusa, IN; and Ervin Kennell and his wife, Rose of Delta, CO; sister-in-law, Lydia Kennell of Benson, IL. Preceding him in death are his parents, Reuben and Elsie (Martin) Kennell and brother, Marvin Kennell.

John E. Kennell was born on May 7, 1945 at Peoria, IL. He graduated from Lincoln Country School from the 8th grade. John was united in marriage with Sharon Bontrager on June 25, 1967 and later divorced. John farmed in Roanoke, IL and Goshen, IN area, later moving to Iowa City. John was united in marriage with Pam Carlson on December 27, 1979. They established their home in Gowrie. John was a sales representative for Growers Fertilizer and Chemicals for 30 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie.
