The music departments of Fort Dodge Senior High, Phillips Middle School and Fair Oaks Middle School will be holding their holiday concerts next week.
The concerts will feature performances by several ensembles, including, concert bands, choirs, jazz bands and orchestras .
Fort Dodge Senior High concert, "Lux Aurumque, A Festival of Holiday Music," will kick off the week of performances Sunday afternoon in the Fort Dodge Senior High gymnasium. The FDSH concert will showcase the talents of instrumental students in the orchestra, symphonic band and wind ensemble, and the voices of the Academy Chorale, A Cappella Choir and Rockapella Choir.

The FDSH performance will feature several traditional and familiar tunes including "Sleigh Ride" and "A Christmas Festival," a medley featuring familiar tunes such as "Joy to the World" "Deck the Halls," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing," "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night."
The Symphonic Band will feature songs such as '"International Christmas Salute, which will feature different holiday sounds from around the world.
"It will be a little different," said FDSH Symphonic Band director Mike Richardson. "It features songs from different countries, but still has the familiar 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' within it."

Fair Oaks Middle School Fifth-Grade Concert: 2 p.m. Thursday, Fair Oaks Middle School Gymnasium, 416 S. 10th St.
Admission to Philips and FDSH concerts is $2 for adults and $1 for students, no more than $5 per family. Admission to Fair Oaks performances is free.
The concert will also feature a full orchestra piece.
"It's the first time in a couple of years we've been able to do that at Senior High, which is pretty exciting," said orchestra director Laura Cooper.
"It's a great way to showcase the talents of the students, and it gets everyone into the spirit of the holiday season," Richardson said. "
The Phillips Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade bands and choirs will perform two separate concerts this year, with the bands performing at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the choirs at 7 p.m. Dec. 20.
The Phillips concert will feature a combined seventh- and eighth-grade band piece to a narration of "The Night Before Christmas," read by Curriculum Director Sue Wood and Hillcrest Elementary Principal Lis Ristau.
Fair Oaks Middle School will hold a sixth-grade concert at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Fair Oaks gymnasium, with familiar selections such as "Sleigh Ride" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. The fifth-grade concert will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 16, also in the Fair Oaks gymnasium.
"They've all been working very hard this year," Sarah Holder, band director at Fair Oaks. "It will be great."
Richardson said that between the five concerts, almost every style of holiday music will be performed.
"We might not have every carol, but, there is enough variety in every song, they'll get most of them," he said. "Everyone should leave just a little more into the Christmas spirit."
