Grace Lutheran Church will start its Sunday school year Sunday, when a program called "SPARK-Activate Faith" will begin.

Classes will be starting with the book of Genesis and the story of creation. All Sunday school children will receive new Bibles during the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday and will be encouraged to bring their Bible with them to Sunday school on a weekly basis.

Each lesson will be taught in a four- to five-week cycle with a different format each week. Classes will start by reading the Bible story aloud to the entire class while children follow along in their own Bibles or just listen. The first week of each rotation will be Bible skills and games, the introduction of the story followed by memory games that will help children retain the details of the story.

The second week will be music with songs that emphasize the lesson from the Bible story. The third week will illustrate the Bible story using science experiments or projects. The fourth and fifth weeks will be either arts and crafts or creative drama, where the kids will be encouraged to create something that illustrates the Bible story being studied.
