Wright County declares state of emergency

After the county was inundated with four to six inches of rain last night, the Wright County Board of Supervisors declared a state of emergency at 8 a.m.

Supervisor Stan Watne said the heavy rains caused the closure of many roads across the county.

"There are a lot of places all over with water over the roads," Watne said. "We're telling people not to drive through the water and use caution. It's bad enough, we don't want people to be injured."

Barriers and flags have been used to close roads, and Watne said the last he heard, the department was running short on those supplies.

Watne said the supervisors will be meeting with road crews at noon for an update on the situation.
