MARIAN HOYT

Marian Hoyt, 89, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Marian is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert L. Smith of Waterloo, IA; sister-in-law, Fran Hoyt of Clarion, IA; nieces, Karen Hibben-Levi of Waterloo and Jane (Leo) Sieren of Keota, IA; nephews, Craig (Kathay) Hoyt of Davis City, IA and Jerry (Janice) Hoyt of Placerville, CA; nephew-in-law, Robert Heng of Lincoln, NE; and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Also survived by her adoptive family, Kathy Sobota of Puyallup, WA, Julie Sparti of Granada Hills, CA and Bill Torgeson of Sacramento, CA and special friends, Karen Musselman of Fort Dodge and Lucy Chase of Waterloo, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters-in-law, Josephine Smith and Marge Hoyt; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hoyt and Arnold "Bud" Hoyt; a niece, Janice Heng and nephews, Chuck Hoyt and Larry Hoyt.

Marian Boone, the daughter of Clifford and Marie (Albertsen) Boone, was born December 2, 1920, in Tipton, Iowa. She received her education in Algona, Iowa, graduating of Algona High School in 1938 and moved to Fort Dodge in 1941. Marian was united in marriage to James Hoyt in 1958, at Blue Earth, Minn. From 1972 to 1982 she was employed as a waitress at the Lamplighter and Sandstone Restaurants. Marian was also employed with Dental Labs. She moved to Waterloo in 2003, to live near her niece.

While in Fort Dodge, Marian was a member of Corpus Christi Church. She enjoyed reading and camping.
