Rosita LaVonne Rodewald-Lanning, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. Burial will be 1:30 PM Thursday in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockwell City beside her 1st husband, Floyd. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Rosita is survived by her husband, Richard Lanning; her daughter, Mrs. Anita Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona and her son, Loren Rodewald of Scottsdale, Arizona; two granddaughters, Cherise Valentino of Cave Creek, Arizona and Paige Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Floyd Rodewald; her parents, Elmer and Irene C. Miller; and her grandparents.
Rosita LaVonne Miller was born July 10th, 1924 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Elmer and Irene Miller. She attended Butler Elementary School and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in the class of 1943. She was working at the Bell Telephone Office when she met and married Floyd Rodewald on January 28th, 1945 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. They set up their home in Rockwell City, Iowa and had two children, a daughter Anita and a son Loren. In 1960, the family moved to Fort Dodge where Floyd became a turbine operator for the Hydro Electric Power plant. Rosita became a service agent for Sears Catalog Department at the Crossroads Mall. They enjoyed many years of happiness in their home. Floyd died of cancer in September of 1981. A few years later Rosita re-married. Her husband, Richard Lanning is from Rutland, Iowa.
