POSTED: December 4, 2009

MESA, Ariz. - Dorothy P. Kaderabek of Mesa, Ariz. died on Nov. 28, 2009, at the age of 100.

She lived at The Springs of East Mesa, a retirement complex near her two daughters until recently when she moved to Sacred Heart Adult Care Home where she passed away.

Funeral services were held at All Saints Catholic Church on Dec. 2, with burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery; both located in Mesa, Ariz.

Dorothy Rydlund was born in Holdrege, Neb. in 1909 and moved with her parents, sisters and a brother to Fort Dodge when she was five years old. She attended Riverside School and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. She studied at a business school in Nebraska before going to work for the local telephone company, and then Western Union.

She married Karl Kaderabek at Sacred Heart Church in 1934. They had three children, Jim, Ann and Polly. Her husband, Karl, started Kaderabek Electric Service n 1947, and Dorothy served the company as business manager for many years. She was active in the Fort Dodge Country Club, loved golfing, enjoyed fishing trips with Karl in their travel trailer, and was also an avid bridge player.

In 1983, after wintering in Arizona for many years where their daughter Polly lived, they decided to move to Mesa permanently. They lived in their home in Sunland Village for 17 years before moving to a retirement facility when they were in their 90s.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by her children Jim Kaderabek and wife Micki of Weiser, Idaho; Polly Wright and husband Dave of Mesa; and daughter Ann and husband Max of Mesa. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother John Rydlund and wife Francesca, of Mesa; a niece, Lois Johnson, of Fort Dodge; and many other nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Hattie Rydlund, a brother, Paul Rydlund and two sisters, Myrtle Olson and Frances Ward, of Fort Dodge.

Memorials may be sent to Northwoods Living in Fort Dodge, where her nephew, John Ward, resides.
