Beverly J. Fisher, 61, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, November 29, 2009, at Trinity Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with leukemia.

Cremation rites will take place at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Beverly's life will be honored at a gathering for family and friends to be held on Thursday, December 3, at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services from 4 to 8 p.m., with a special time for sharing to be held at 7 p.m.

Beverly is survived by her husband James (Randy) Fisher; daughter Cary (Chad) Clark, Fort Dodge; her granddaughter Zoey R. Miller; her brothers, David Gillespie and Kip Gillespie, both of Fort Dodge; her niece and nephew, Danielle and Josh Gillespie; and her beloved dog Cezar. Beverly is also lovingly remembered by many friends, family members and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Beverly Jean Gillespie, the daughter of John and Lottie (Russell) Gillespie, was born on January 18, 1948, in Michigan City, IN. Beverly graduated from Harding High School in Oklahoma City in 1966. She then graduated from Knox College and received her Masters Degree from Syracuse University in New York. On May 13, 1978, Beverly was united in marriage to James Randy Fisher in Fort Dodge. Beverly served as acting principal at Pleasant Valley School and worked closely with special needs children. She then worked at Arrowhead (Prairie Lakes) AEA and retired as Supervising Consultant after 29 years. Beverly and Randy also co-owned and operated Vincent Antique Galleries at Vincent for 17 years.

Beverly was a long time member of the Civitan Club, where she was a past-president and served in many capacities. She was a member of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS), and was a charter member of the Fort Dodge Stoneware Collectors Society. She served on the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and formerly served as the director for the local Special Olympics. Beverly was a supporter of the Blanden Museum and she enjoyed camping, collecting antiques, loved all sorts of music and she played the piano. Beverly enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and doing handicrafts such as sewing and needlepoint.
