CLARENCE W. HOCK
MANSON - Clarence W. Hock, 94, died on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at the Manson Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will be held on Wed. Dec. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson with Fr. Richard Ries officiating. Visitation will be on Tues from 3 until 7 pm at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson where there will be a prayer vigil at 5 p.m. and a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Manson.
Clarence William Hock was born on Dec. 14, 1914, at Manson, IA, the son of William and Elizabeth (Neu) Hock. He graduated from Manson High School and on Feb. 18, 1939, married Mildred Lucille O'Hern at Barnum, IA. Together they lived in Manson for one year before moving to Gilmore City where they farmed and raised purebred spot hogs for 19 years. In 1959, they moved to Manson where he farmed and raised purebred hogs until he retired. Clarence won many awards at the Iowa State Fair, Austin Barrow Show and many national Purebred shows. He enjoyed family, farming, raising hogs, and his dog Freddie.
Survivors include his son Tom (Linda) Hock of Manson; daughter Liz (Leonard) Korte of Palmer; grandchildren Mike Hock, Andrew (Dawn) Hock, Tim Hock, Brittany (Robert) Knowles, Janelle Hock, Mark (Amanda) Korte, Lori Aber; great grandchildren Drew and William Hock, Michalea and Jessica Aber, Joseph and Max Korte, and Autumn Doty; sisters Dorothy Pitstick of Fonda and Catherine Thomas of Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his wife Mildred on May 31, 2008.
