LUCILLE B. RHEA

POSTED: November 29, 2009

CEDAR RAPIDS - Lucille B. Rhea, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away after a short illness Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church by Rev. Paul Wilcox. Burial: 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Paula) Rhea of Marion, and Linda (Alan) Olson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jason, Lindsey, Kelsey, and Dana Rhea; and sister, Jerrie Anderson of Des Moines. She is also survived by one niece and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; and brothers, Roy "Tony", Floyd, and Jim Nedderman.

Lucille was born October 4, 1920, in Lovilia, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Carrie (Landsperger) Nedderman. She was married to Vincent Rhea on July 3, 1938, in Albia, Iowa. Lucille worked for Hy-Vee in the produce department for 17 years. She was active at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church in bible study, Friendly Fellowship, and had started attending the prayer shawl group. Lucille enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. She was an avid bridge player, liked bowling, loved books, and always had a jigsaw puzzle in progress.

Memorials may be directed to Lovely Lane United Methodist Church in Lucille's memory.
