RICHARD J. BLANCHET
Richard J. Blanchet, 59, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Marian Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28th in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A military flag presentation will be conducted by the VFW Post 1856.
Surviving is his father, Bill Blanchet of Fort Dodge; brother, Tom Blanchet of Fort Dodge; sisters, Liz Howe and her husband Pat of Silver City, NM, Mary Davis and her husband Eddie of Amarillo, TX, Janice Welter and her husband Larry of Manson, Cathy Proveaux and her husband Lonnie of Sheboygan, WI. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcella Blanchet and a sister, Rose Blanchet.
Richard J. Blanchet was born November 1, 1950 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from St Edmond High School. In 1970 he enlisted in the US Air Force serving in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1974. He then attended A.I.B. Business College in Des Moines. Following his education Richard moved to Anaheim, CA where he worked for Global Van Lines. He later went to work with the O.T.S. Division of the U.S. Treasury where he worked for nearly 27 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed traveling and loved photography.
