EAGLE GROVE - Roger Eugene Tesdahl, the son of Arthur and Ethel (Johnson) Tesdahl, was born September 13, 1937, in Badger, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School.

Roger served in the United States Army from October 1956 until November of 1962.

In August of 1961, Roger married LaVonne Janvrin in Hawarden, Iowa and made their home in Eagle Grove. The couple later divorced.

Roger worked as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed baseball and playing golf.

Roger passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at his home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 72 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his four children: Jeannie Melhus and husband Marc of Redfield, Jill Hutcheson of Durango, CO, Jim Tesdahl and wife Heidi of Webster City and Jan Kittelson and husband Kris of Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren: Corey, Bradley (Audrey) and Eric Melhus, Bailey, Trey, Adeline and Matthew Tesdahl and Ciara, Korbin, and Mia Kittelson; a sister, Donna Wolf of Humboldt and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thanks to all of his loyal friends who always went out of their way to take care of him. For this, Roger was always deeply grateful.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 27, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield with Pastor Paul Stone officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
