Betty N. Meyer, 88, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. J. K. Raether officiating. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

She is survived by her three children, Robert and Linda Meyer of Dayton, Iowa, Nadene and Terry Kirton of Woodward, Iowa, and Jaci and Steve Sanks of Canby, Oregon; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Theissen of Paso Robles, California, Orrine Chute of Cedar Rapids, IA, and JoAnn Stahl of Lafayette, California. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, Orrin and Edith (Kenworthy) White, and three sisters, Bobbie Jean, Pat and Maxine.

Betty Nadene White was born March 17, 1921 on a farm near Badger, Iowa. She graduated from high school and Tobin Business College in Fort Dodge. On January 14, 1945, Betty married Donald Meyer in Badger. After their marriage the couple farmed in Deer Creek Township area most of life. Betty was a bowler for over 50 years. She started Jr. Bowling in Fort Dodge. She was secretary to the Director of Nursing at Trinity Regional Medical Center and also was a receptionist for the outpatient department. Her husband died on June 11, 1991. After his death Betty continued to work, retiring in 2001 at the age of 80.

Betty is a Past President of the IWBA, and has been inducted into the Iowa and Fort Dodge Bowlers Hall of Fame.
