Wilson wins FD Ward 2

By BILL SHEA Messenger staff writer
POSTED: November 4, 2009

Fort Dodge City Councilman Don Wilson won his fourth term Tuesday, easily defeating challenger Rita Carlson by a margin of roughly 83 percent to 16 percent.

Wilson racked up 766 votes.

Carlson won 150 votes.

''I feel pretty good right now,'' Wilson said.

''I can't relinquish on infrastructure and the streets,'' he added. ''We have to work for the people that have lived here for 40, 50 years. They deserve better than what they have.''

Wilson called Carlson a ''fine young lady.''

Carlson vowed that she'll run for office again someday.

She added that she hopes Wilson will ''listen to all citizens and not just a select few.''

The 2nd Ward is the southern half of the city.

Rita would ahve been a good choice for this ward- some fresh ideas without the standard lines. I hope she runs at-large next time.

I don't remember seeing any Wilson signs in any of the yards. All I remember seeing was someone standing on a street corner by the Highland Park clinic building wearing a large sign for Mr. Wilson. The weather wasn't very nice that day. It just shows how far people were willing to go to get a good man re-elected.

from most of the people I hear from, Don Wilson does listen to all the citizens and not just a select few... probably why this was a landslide.
