Nine area teams look to inch one step closer to the UNI-Dome in state football playoff games tonight.

All kickoffs are set for 7 p.m.

Fourth-ranked Prairie Valley (10-0 overall) hosts Class 1A district rival Manson Northwest Webster (8-2) in a rematch of a game played earlier this season. The Warriors, who reached the semifinal round a year ago, defeated the Cougars in Manson on Sept. 18 by a final of 28-8.

No. 1 Emmetsburg (10-0) welcomes ninth-rated South Winneshiek (9-1), also in 1A. Meanwhile, third-ranked (Class A) Southern Cal plays Akron-Westfield (8-2) in Lake City. Both the E-Hawks and Mustangs are defending state champions.

Ninth-rated (2A) Eagle Grove squares off with No. 6 Hull Western Christian (9-1) at home. Jefferson-JSPC travels to third-ranked Carroll (10-0) in a Class 3A contest.

Three Messengerland eight-player squads will be in action: No. 2 North Sentral Kossuth (10-0) hosts Graettinger-Terril (8-2), 10th-rated Corwith-CWL (8-1) welcomes Maynard West Central (9-1), and West Bend-Mallard (4-6) - fresh off its huge substate upset of seventh-ranked and previously-unbeaten Remsen St. Mary's - visits No. 5 Armstrong-Ringsted (9-1).

Monday's winners will advance to the quarterfinal round this Friday at sites to be determined. The semifinals in Cedar Falls begin on Thursday, Nov. 12, for eight-player squads; on Friday, Nov. 13, for Class A and 4A; on Saturday, Nov. 14, for 1A; and on Monday, Nov. 16, for 2A and 3A.
