Mary Ellen Cox, 47, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel.

Mary was born in Story City, IA on May 11, 1962. She attended South Hamilton Schools. She was a member of the Berean Four Square Church and was on the church praise team. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a very committed Christian. She enjoyed painting, singing and playing the tambourine and was also an animal lover. She was very kind to everyone and had a beautiful smile.

Mary is survived by her husband Roger; daughter Pearl (Trent) Christensen; son Ray (Kori) Williams; mother Irene Barkema; grandchildren, Madison Nixon, Collin Christensen, Taylor Keubler, Kennedy Williams and Holden McClintock; brother Pat (Mary) Snakenberg; sisters, Charlene (Vern) Peterson and Raejean (Hubert) Bickelhapt; mother in-law Florine Cox-Curry and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her father Raymond Barkema.
