LILAH C. HEIDT

GILMORE CITY - Lilah C. Heidt, 79, of Gilmore City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Memorial services are 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at the St. John Catholic Church in Gilmore City, Iowa, with Fr. Jim Tigges officiating. Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Calvary Cemetery near Ayrshire, Iowa. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Ayrshire, Iowa. There will be no visitation.

Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas, is handling arrangements.

Lilah C. Flaherty was born August 23, 1930, at Gilmore City, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Clara (Ernst) Flaherty. She attended schools in Bradgate, Gilmore City and Richmond, CA. On October 31, 1950, Lilah married Louis Heidt in Humboldt. The couple settled in Gilmore City where they lived their entire married life. Lilah was a homemaker and spent many years caring for her mother.

Lilah was a past member of the St. John Catholic Church where she served as bookkeeper and with the ladies society. She enjoyed studying history and movies. She also enjoyed flowers and bird watching.

Survivors include her husband, Louis of Gilmore City; son, Curt (Sharon) Heidt of Clive and grandchildren, Sarah (Brandon) Mauch of Pittsburgh, PA; Nicholas (fiancee Margot Wolfsehr) of Chico, CA and Laura (Sean) Honts of Urbandale.

Lilah was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lorretta Heidt; sisters, Mabel Mills, Mary Olesen, Eileen Scammon and Leuella Flaherty; and brothers, William "Bud", Orie, Dale, Thomas and LeRoy Flaherty.
