Bodil Marie (Finvaag) Anderson, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial following at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Bodil was born in Trondheim, Norway on July 17, 1920 to Henrik and Borghild Hovdal. She grew up in Trondheim and worked with her family at their Meat Packing Business. Bodil married Harry Finvaag on May 2, 1942 in Trondheim. She moved from Norway to Fort Dodge in 1955 and was then employed by Safeway Stores for 19 years. Harry died on October 10, 1979. She met Leland Anderson and they were married on August 16, 1985 in Fort Dodge, they enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, golfing, traveling and wintering in Florida and Hawaii.
Bodil is survived by her husband Leland, two daughters Rigmor (Larry) Stutzman of Devine, TX and Gerd (Kevin) Ault of Battle Ground, WA; Leland's children, Dennis (Karen) Anderson of Rockwell City, IA, Edward (Sherry) Anderson of Webster City, IA, JoLynn (Phillip) Stephenson of Fort Dodge and Annette (Kevin) Prevestorf of Chaska, MN; her sister Aase Barkhall of Heimdal, Norway; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Finvaag; 3 brothers and 3 sisters in Norway. Memorials may be directed to the family for their further discretion.
