133rd Test Squadron gets a boost
The 133rd Test Squadron of the Iowa Air National Guard plays a highly significant role in our nation's defense. It assesses new communications, computer and intelligence and surveillance technology for all branches of the military. It has the distinction of being the only Air National Guard unit with this type of specialization.
Keeping this unit's facilities in top shape is good for America. Since it is headquartered here, federal spending for that purpose also helps the Fort Dodge economy. The unit's main compound, leased by the National Guard from the Fort Dodge Regional Airport, is getting a $5.4 million upgrade. The undertaking was made possible in part by the efforts of U.S. Rep. Tom Latham. A year ago, the Republican congressman inserted the funding in a spending bill that ultimately received congressional and presidential approval.
The Messenger welcomes this important endeavor. The 133rd Test Squadron is important to America's military readiness and a source of pride for our community.
