MARGARET MARY “MOLLY” BROWN

BRADGATE - Margaret Mary "Molly" Brown, 88 of Bradgate died Saturday July 25, 2009 at Careage Nursing Home in Fort Dodge. Services will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at First Luthrean Church, Gilmore City with burial to follow in Marble Valley Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Harris Funeral Home in Gilmore City. Margaret Mary "Molly" Brown was born February 10, 1921 in Lye, England, the daughter of George and Nellie (Wiggins)Jenkins. After her schooling she worked for the Royal Service in Malvern, England during WWII. It was there that she met Austin "Bus" Brown. The couple was married April 19, 1945 at Christ Church in Malvern, England. Molly and Bus moved to Iowa where they lived and farmed for 55 years in the Bradgate area. Survivors include her sons Michael David (Norine) Brown of Clare, IA, and Martin Christopher (Nancy) Brown of Bradgate, IA, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and her sister Sylvia Barret of Malvern, England. Molly was a member of First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City, the Bradgate VFW, Women's Auxiliary and the Progress Club. She taught knitting at the Gilmore City High School and was known for making clothes for many Barbie dolls in the area. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Austin "Bus".
