HUMBOLDT - Larry L. Steburg, 63, of rural Humboldt, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Barbara Huisman officiating. Cremation rites will follow at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. The visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. in The Commons of First Presbyterian Church. The Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Larry is survived by his wife Linda; his son Scott (Jennifer) Steburg, North Liberty; two grandchildren, Jackson and Jessica; his mother Dorothy (Art) Steburg Ferkin, Whittier, CA; and his brother Jim (Wanda) Steburg, Yale. Larry was preceded in death by his father Jess Steburg.

Larry L. Steburg, the son of Jess and Dorothy (Martin) Steburg, was born July 30, 1945, in Oklahoma City, OK. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1963, and attended Iowa State University. On June 17, 1967, Larry was united in marriage to Linda Swanson at Madrid, Iowa. Larry received his Professional Land Surveyor certification in 1975. He was employed at Associated Engineers and then with the Engineering Department for the City of Fort Dodge. Larry joined MER Engineering in 1977 where he became a partner and remained for over 30 years.

Larry was formerly active in the Epworth United Methodist Church and more recently at First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hiking trips to the mountains and pursuing the perfect trout fishing locations. His true passions were anything involving the outdoors, Land Surveying, growing Christmas trees and completing his many personal projects and tasks.
