REV. CALVIN T. TEASDALE

Rev. Calvin T. Teasdale, 78, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22 at the Celebration Center at Friendship Haven with Rev. Anita Johnson officiating. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge are in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; son, Thomas Teasdale of Fort Myers, Florida; three daughters, Roxanne (John) Gavan of Drumheller, Alberta Canada; Rebecca Wassenaar of Toronto, Kansas and Katherine (Gean) Meyer of LaPorte City, Iowa; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Kenneth and Russell Teasdale.

Calvin T. Teasdale, the son of Thomas R. and Mary Jean (Rutter) Teasdale was born June 28, 1931, in Fall River, Massachusetts and graduated from Fall River High School. In 1952, Cal enlisted into the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. On March 26, 1953, he married Gladys Powell in Denver, Colorado. Calvin was discharged from the Air Force as an Airman 1st Class. He graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City and also Boston College. Rev. Teasdale served in the United Methodist Church in Alta, Sheldon, Dysart, Forest City, Hudson, Ruthven, and Fort Dodge, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Sheldon, a member of the Lions Club in Dysart and a member of the Mason Shrine Scottish Rite. Calvin played in the bell choir in Dysart and enjoyed playing the piano for the chorus at Friendship Haven. He was a longtime pastor & volunteer at Friendship Haven.

Memorials may be left to the Friendship Haven Care Fund.
