More answers are needed

POSTED: July 3, 2009

A scandal involving misuse of taxpayers' money by a self-proclaimed friend of President Barack Obama is heating up, according to published reports. Unfortunately, the man perhaps best qualified to be looking into the affair won't be doing so. Obama fired him.

It has been reported that Obama fired Gerald Walpin from his position as inspector general for the AmeriCorps program. The president's only explanation, contained in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was that he had lost confidence in Walpin.

But the firing occurred after Walpin exposed misuse of federal funds by the St. Hope Academy in Sacramento, Calif. The academy, then run by former professional basketball player Kevin Johnson, was found to have spent AmeriCorps money improperly. Some of it was used for political purposes - and some was used to benefit Johnson personally. Johnson, who helped in Obama's presidential campaign last fall, agreed to repay half of the $847,000 grant involved in Walpin's investigation.

Then Obama fired Walpin. On the same day he did that, the executive director at the St. Hope Academy left his position.

In his resignation letter, Rick Maya accused Johnson and some St. Hope board members of ethics violations. He also wrote that a board member had deleted e-mails from Johnson that were involved in a federal investigation. Now the FBI is investigating St. Hope.

A few members of Congress have demanded more information on why Obama fired Walpin. They should not let the matter drop, in view of the suspicious timing of the dismissal.

Among cornered liberals with no real answers, it is the usual diversionary tactic.

Hey Anderson? How much is that travel costing us compared to fraud in the Iraq war that occured under Republican rule? Got some actual numbers so we can compare? not that it matters since Bush messed with IGs that wanted to look into it.

Maybe you can ask the dems to reimpurse us like Palin was forced to do over her illegal travel expense claims,

Noblesse yada yada yada

Hey skippy? I'll be more than happy to provide you with links to all the information.

Just as soon as you admit here that your rant was based not on facts but on what some right wing talking head said on a radio or TV show.

But I will give you a hint. Walpin was subject to some very serious crticism as to his "investigation" into the Americorps affair before Obama was even elected, in fact the US AGs office declined to press charges and said the IGs report was overstated and did not accurately reflect the information he had gathered in his investigation. The US AGs office also found it neccessary to release a statement to the press that it would not be filing any charges in the matter because Walpin, a BUSH appointee was making questionable public statements about the matter oddly timed with Mr. Johnsons campaign.

Oh we can go into a bit deeper after you admit you spoke withoput an actual clue, K?

And costs for congressional travel have doubled since the Democrats took control of Congress. Noblesse oblige!

Hey Skippy? Please at least take the time to educate yourself before parroting what your masters tell you to say. You and your master seem hesitiant to tell the whole truth here, why is that?

Yup, more of Obama's change in action. He seems to be saying to all his buddies, "Do what you want, steal what you need, I've got you covered." Has this guy done one single thing that most people approve of? Granted, honesty is a rare thing in politics these days, but didn't Obama promise to clean up government?
