LORRETTA C. HEIDT

Lorretta C. Heidt, 55, of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 6, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. James Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in the Silver Lake Cemetery at Ayrshire. The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Cremation rites will follow the visitation and memorials may be directed to the Humboldt Community Chorus.

Lorretta is survived by her parents, Louis and Lilah Heidt; her brother Curt (Sharon) Heidt, Clive; her nieces and nephew Sarah (Brandon) Mauch, Portugal; Nicholas Heidt, Chico, CA; and Laura Heidt; Waukee; and special friends Rachael Dawson, Lisa Dawson, Mary Dawson and Carol Fredricksen. Lorretta was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clara and John Flaherty and Frances and Edward Heidt.

Lorretta Carol Heidt, the daughter of Louis and Lilah (Flaherty) Heidt, was born February 5, 1954, in Fort Dodge. She attended Catholic school in Pocahontas and graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1972. Lorretta received her medical assistant training at Iowa Central Community College and for 20 years was employed at the medical clinic in Pocahontas. Lorretta then worked for ten years as a Certified Medical Assistant in Dr. DeLucca's Clinic in Fort Dodge, where she was employed at the time of her death.

Lorretta was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was very active in the Humboldt Community Chorus and she previously taught CCD classes and served as a Lector at St. John's Catholic Church in Gilmore City and Corpus Christi Church in Fort Dodge. Lorretta was a medical aide for youth camps for many years. She loved handicrafts, reading, gardening, singing, cooking and she was an accomplished cake decorator. Lorretta will be remembered for her listening ear and gentle touch in helping her friends and patients.
