Laurens man dies following semi wreck

Kenneth Baumhover, 52, pronounced dead at TRMC

POSTED: June 24, 2009

BADGER - A one-vehicle crash on Monday claimed the life of a Laurens man.

Kenneth Baumhover, 52, of Laurens, was killed after his semitrailer ran off the east side of Webster County Road C56 and came to rest in a ditch at about 4:30 p.m.

An official at Trinity Regional Medical Center confirmed Tuesday morning that Baumhover had died.

Baumhover was traveling west on County Road C56 Monday afternoon shortly after leaving Sparboe Farms Inc. in Eagle Grove, according to Alan Andrews, vice president of marketing for Sparboe Farms.

Baumhover was a contract hauler for Sparboe and was hauling a truckload of eggs to Washington state, Andrews said.

The truck was owned by B T Transport near Carroll, according to Andrews.

Initial reports from law enforcement indicated the cause of the crash was medically related. The specific cause of death cannot be ruled until the autopsy is complete, according to Jayson Heesch, a sergeant with the Webster County Sheriff's Department.

Heesch said speed was not a factor in the accident.

"Any time something like this happens, your prayers go to the family," Andrews said. "We're as concerned about the contractors as we are our own employees. It's just an unfortunate incident that no one could foresee."
